You belong here just as much as anyone else.
Meeting Yourself Deeply
Self-actualization is about becoming deeply and courageously yourself. For highly sensitive and neurodivergent leaders, or those who simply find themself always doing things a little differently, this journey can feel like peeling back layers of “shoulds” to reveal the truth of what actually fits.
Once you get comfortable practicing living and leading from a place of alignment, versus assimilation, your potential for impact increases. The path becomes more clear because you create the path.
01 — Self-Discovery
The Birkman Method is a powerful tool for anyone navigating the challenges of work because it gives language to things we often feel but don’t know how to explain. It doesn’t just show you what you’re good at, it shows you:
What energizes you
What you need to thrive
How you show up under stress
Where your values align with your behavior
02 — Needs Awareness
People can only see what we show them. Our internal values and motivations manifest as interests and career pursuits. Our visible stress responses a result of invisible needs going unmet for a long enough period of time. Notice when you’re needs are not being met, learn how to tend to them yourself to remain in a productive behavior state - and set boundaries were appropriate with others who continuously disregard them.
03 — Authentic Being
Once you know who you are and what you need from others to stay grounded, what needs to stay and what needs to go in how we are living becomes clear. Where are you living in alignment, and where are you over-adapting? The greatest risks and greatest rewards are in choosing to be who you truly are, walking your confidence and holding compassion for yourself as you make this change.
04 — Self-Regulation and Resilience
Everyone gets stressed, but most people don’t notice the subtle signs of fatigue and depletion that - when caught early - can be regulated and mitigated so you don’t make choices you’ll regret. Self-regulation is a leadership skill. Effectively knowing when to manage emotion, show emotion, and use emotion in decision-making is crucial for navigating the complex and continuous challenges faced by leaders today.
05 — Purpose and Fulfillment
There’s no greater emptiness than using your gifts towards something that lacks meaning. Your values must be translated into the kind of impact you want to make in this world. You are altruistic by nature, but are you effective? Opportunity exists at the intersection of what you’re good at, what drives you, and what the world needs.
